Building a safe haven for the homeless of Pasco County:  Building for Good is helping a Florida nonprofit end homelessness and give individuals and families critical
support and housing services.

Since 1988, the Coalition for the Homeless of Pasco County (the “Coalition”) has worked to relieve the suffering of families and individuals experiencing homelessness in Pasco County, Florida.  The Coalition is an organization of more than 40 service provider agencies offering support services and resources to those in need. The Coalition works to provide a safe community, opportunities for self-sufficiency, and permanent homes for families and individuals.

With the help of Building for Good volunteer lawyers, John Vento and Aaron Reichelson from the Trenam Law Firm, the Coalition is remodeling one of its two existing buildings into a housing services center and rebuilding the second one to be used as temporary housing for families.

When completed, the first 8000 square-foot building will house agencies and organizations that provide various support and housing services. A second similarly sized building will have nine configurable sleeping rooms, communal living space, bathrooms, and kitchens to accommodate families and groups while the Coalition helps them secure permanent housing.

The property will provide a safe haven for families and individuals to stay and gain stability.

With the help of our Building for Good volunteer lawyer, we were able to save critical resources and focus more on our goal of making homelessness rare, brief, and nonrecurring.

The Coalition will be remodeling the former Pasco County Boys and Girls Club to improve and expand support services and provide temporary housing.
